Tony Stubbs -
Tony qualified as a chartered accountant with Acklands in Bristol. On qualification, he moved directly into commerce, enjoying a short spell with Courage’s Bristol Brewery before joining Laura Ashley as Group Accountant at the height of their growth in the 80s.
The 90s saw a move into General Accident’s Property Services business in a number of operational finance roles in and around London and a return to Bristol as Area Sales Director. The noughties saw Tony operating in interim finance roles in a wide range of businesses including First Choice, a Lehman Bros sub-prime mortgage subsidiary (!), a GKN manufacturing plant in Italy and Swindon-based high-tech start-up Ubiquisys, where he secured $5M of A Round financing and saw Google and NEC invest $Ms.
Tony purchased the franchise for Executives Online in the South West & Wales in 2007 and has since worked with a range of companies - high growth 360 Legal Consultancy, West of England Aerospace Forum restructure and sourcing interims to help New Look deliver a McKinsey inspired change programme. The period following the credit crunch/recession has seen the trend towards the “portfolio” director who is engaged with a number of companies on a part time and or non-executive capacity accelerate sharply. Working with the many high growth and start-up companies in the South West to help them more effectively access these resources is now Tony’s main area of focus at Executives Online.
